Biltong Salad Idea
Alternative ways to eat Biltong.
So, you love Biltong but sometimes get a little bored with just eating it straight from the pack as a healthy snack. We are always asked ‘but what else can you do with it?’ The answer to this is simply - whatever you like!
As the 1st of June saw the initial start of the UK summer we thought that an example Biltong salad dish would be perfect to give you some inspiration, so here goes:
Salad Dressing:
125ml chopped fresh parsley.
1 clove of Garlic, crushed.
125ml chopped spring onions.
Salt & freshly ground black pepper to taste
2.5ml wholegrain mustard
125ml Olive Oil
30ml white vinegar
15ml sugar
Salad:
250g of thinly sliced Biltong (Original or Salt and Pepper work best)
Variety of salad leaves
Feta cheese (as much or as little as you like) cubed.
2 Avocados, peeled & sliced
2 eggs, hard boiled and quartered
1 red pepper, de-seeded and cut into strips
1. Salad Dressing - mix all your ingredients together using a small whisk or fork.
2. Salad - Place the biltong in the dressing and set aside for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, in the fridge.
3. Pile the salad leaves onto individual plates, arrange the remaining salad ingredients on top. Spoon the Biltong and some of the dressing over the salad and serve immediately, serve the remaining salad dressing as a side portion.
The amounts above should serve 4 people.
